Biography
Described as the lovechild of ABBA and The White Stripes, London-based, Australian-born indie pop quartet, Tall Poppies match neat, melodic alt-pop with disco vibes. Inspired by retro alternative British acts like Kate Bush and David Bowie, Perth identical twins Susan and Catherine Hay emigrated to the UK to explore the music scene. Landing a residency in a London pub, they realised they needed a stage name when every week there would be two different female names on the blackboard listing. Tall Poppies was born. They spin melodic tales of life from both sides of the planet with harmonies alongside Diarmuid Nugent pulling at heartstrings on violin and Doug Fink injecting the energy and danceability on drums. Tall Poppies have toured the UK, Europe, and Australia with their uplifting live show that will leave you feeling a taller poppy and part of the family.
